The Metropolitan-Vickers Training School
The Apprentice Training School, located on Moss Road, Stretford was opened in January 1951, and in 1956 considerable extensions were added. Over 700 apprentices and trainees could be accommodated. The building included: Training Drawing Offices; Classrooms and
Workshops; Canteen; Lending Library; and also a Medical-Room.
The photograph above shows the main Workshop.
Here students were trained in fitting and Machine Shop practice.

All apprentices had to be competent in Engineering drawing.
The photograph above shows the Lending Library In 1955, the library contained 1500 books, and was open to all students.
