G3NGD's 12Volt Stabilized Power Supply Unit
incorporating Short Circuit Protection.
![]() |
| In the early
1980's I decided to build a Power Supply Unit to power my Two Metre Transceiver.
I required a Stabilized Power Unit, providing a Variable 12 Volt d.c. supply. (See alternative output Voltage adjustment circuit below). I also required the circuit to incorporate 'Short Circuit Protection'. Currently, the unit is used to supply power to my 'Chatterbox Transmitter and Receiver'. |
| The Power Transistors are mounted on a large 'Heatsink'. The Large Capacitor is required in order to pass 12A of ripple. |
| Extra turns of copper wire were wound on the Transformer Secondary, to increase the output voltage to 18V ~ 50Hz. |
